Component Degreasing

Alstom Train Services, the railway renovation company situated on the south coast, has been successful in supplying the railway industry with refurbished and 'as new' stock for many years. The train operator quality standards of workmanship have become higher with advice given and machinery supplied by CBI Equipment. Increases in output and reduced overheads has considerably allowed Alstom to expand into the new millennium and comply with customer standards.

Alstom Train Services has over the past few years invested well by installing a number of shotblasting train and degreasing machinery to cover an amount of operations. For example, three blast rooms - two of which are used for shotblasting train bogies, the third is used for stripping the outside of carriages back to the base metal. The components are then repainted in their plant spraying facilities to give an 'as new' finish.

The photograph right shows the main shotblast room with winch facility and bogie transport.

Bogie

The picture left shows two engineers rebuilding a refurbished bogie. The chosen process is to strip the bogie of all running gear, shotblast to bare metal and repaint (blast room located in the background for easy access from the work-station).

Not only has Alston purchased a number of new systems, they have also bought from our used stock. One such unit is a large 2m Hook machine (pictured below) which is being used to shotblast automatically a large number of ancillary components specific to their operation, i.e. springs and various bogie parts.
